Administered with a tiny needle, small amounts of BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are injected directly into the muscles that cause lines between your brows, on your forehead or around your eyes. After the treatment, you may resume your normal activity without any down-time. Within 2-3 days of the injection, you will notice the gradual relaxation of the muscle and improvement in the appearance of the lines. The effects of your Botox® Cosmetic and Dysport® may last up to 4 months. Great results can be continued with regular injections performed every 4-6 months.
Restylane®Perlane®and Juvederm® are used to correct facial lines such as the nasolabial folds (smile lines). Both are made from a substance called hyaluronic acid (HA), a sugar found naturally in your skin. Hyaluronic acid attracts water and helps give skin fullness and softness. Studies have shown that as human skin ages, there is a progressive loss of HA, which contributes to development of wrinkles and poor skin texture.
Restylane® Perlane® and Juvederm® are injected directly under the skin using a small needle. Use of numbing agents before the treatment is sometimes necessary for maximal comfort. Perlane® is a larger HA particle, ideal for deeper lines, and needs to be injected deeper under the skin surface. Restylane® and Juvederm® are both made of smaller HA particles and can be used for finer lines. These HA products are manufactured as a soft gel and are a great for use in delicate areas such as the lips. Hyaluronic acid products last on average 6-12 months.
Correction of the area of concern is seen immediately after the injection. There is normally a period where the injection site looks slightly overcorrected for a few days after the procedure due to skin swelling. Adverse effects from any filler injection include minor bruising, swelling and redness.
EVOLENCE® is a newer filler available in the United States. Made from natural collagen, EVOLENCE® is used to correct facial lines and augment soft tissue features.
Collagen loss in aging skin also contributes to wrinkles and loss of soft texture. Collagen has long been used as cosmetic filler, but has lost popularity due to need for allergy skin testing and short effectiveness (2-3 months).
EVOLENCE® is a unique, highly purified natural collagen that has been cross-linked to make it more stable. Lasting at least 6 months, EVOLENCE® does not require any skin testing. Studies have also shown that there are fewer tendencies for bruising and swelling after EVOLENCE® injections compared with hyaluronic acid products.
RADIESSE® is a filler used for deep soft tissue correction of facial lines and other aging facial features. Made from a calcium mineral found naturally in bone and teeth, RADIESSE® provides longer lasting results of at least 12 months. It has also been showed to stimulate your body's own natural collagen production which keeps the area of concern looking better even long after RADIESSE® is gone.
RADIESSE® can also be used effectively in other areas age-related volume loss such as the cheeks, temples and hands. It is not recommended to use in softer areas such as the lips or in finer, more superficial lines and wrinkles.
SCULPTRA® Aesthetic is the latest injectable filler FDA approved to correct deep nasolabial folds (smile lines) and other facial areas that may require additional volume such as the cheeks and temples. Prepared as a dissolving crystal, SCULPTRA® Aesthetic is injected under the skin surface and stimulates collagen formation around the product. Typically 3-4 treatments are performed over the course of a few months. Results develop gradually over several weeks after treatment and typically last for about 2 years.
